Try swapping the cables around. If you have TV output enabled and the cabled hooked up, you should see it. You won't see it on both, just one or the other.
BTW, Apple switched the cable output with their iPod video output, so it seems like only their connector cable works. Actually you can use any mini plug (headphone) to audio/video cable by using the red/white (typically audio) into the video and yellow (typically video) into the audio connection. You may have a bad cable, so it might be worth trying a different one. You can get a mini to RCA cables for a few bucks at most stores, just remember to swap it when you plug it in.
