Syncing new + old ipod?!
by susan bianchi on Feb 15, 2009 at 1:37:28 am

Hey,

I hope someone can help me here. I'm new to this site..

I got a new 30gb ipod because mine was too small. Anyways, the guy has a lot of good music on there and I was wondering if there was a wy to sync it to my itunes? Like I plug it in through the usb and the music comes up under the name he gave his ipod. I can't click and/or drag the files into mine or into a folder I made on my desktop. When I go to my computer and click on the ipod, there is no music so I can't do it that way either.

Someone please help!

Thanks,
Susan

There is a similar post a few message down:

There are numerous shareware programs for $20-$30 that do this, I just did a quick Google search and came up with this page for PC programs

http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/keys/transfer-songs-off-ipod.html

In the "old days" iTunes would see the iPod and immediately start syncing the PC to the iPod, if you had nothing on your PC then the iPod would be wiped. They have fixed this in the last few versions of iTunes, now a prompt will pop up saying its a "different library" with some options. Just make sure you are using the latest iTunes. So plugging in the iPod and then using a shareware program to transfer is the best bet.

Frank

hi:
i came up with an idea. Firstly you can backup your friend's database and files into somewhere(in one hardware of your computer or mobile hardware) and then copy them to your ipod. i ever had such a problem same as you. luckily i got a great tool,it's a itunes-aided software and called Aniosoft iTunes to iTunes Transfer.it is not free but it is worth a lot comparing to its powerful functions and great convenience provided.also it can be free trial for seven days. good luck.
