Buying a new Ipod Touch

I'm wondering if now is a good time to buy an ipod touch. Is there anything happening with this in conjunction with the iphone 3G? Will the ipod touch also be 3g?
The reason I'm asking is that I'm requesting one from my wife for my Birthday at the end of June.
A second question is are the 16GB and the 32GB both equal in quality and reliability? Is there a difference? I would mainly use it for video playback of my demos for clients, as well as wifi and email capabilities. I'd be using it to store and music files as well.

There is no 3G for a device other than a cell phone. The new iPhones are less because they are discounted like other cell phones are with a 2 year contract.
The iPod 8, 16 and 32 GB models are not going to be discounted any time soon. (MY guess)
