Hello,

I am not quite familiar with HDMI technology.Please respond to the next questions:
1. Which kind of compression HDMI has? Please compare it with firewire.
2. Can I capture/digitize the footage from my Sony z7u camcorder into my Avid by using HDMI cable?
3. What are the other purposes of HDMI?

HDMI is not compatable with an avid. You'll need a regular IO for NLEs.
HDMI was developed by your cable network in an effort to tell you you can get uncompressed HD in componant form on your hom television.

...which is absolutly false.
