i'm always designing based on Title/Action Safe assuming that things get cut off at the Action safe, but what about newer TV's? do they all cut off there or is that becoming obsolete?

We will be dealing with cut-off areas for many years yet, because not every TV magically gets replaced in 2009, so the safe bet IMO is to still honor safe title and action zones.

Many new TVs still overscan to the action safe (or close to it). My new Panasonic Plasma has the option of showing a signal cropped or not.

that's actually surprising as i know i personally can't wait for a widescreen non-cropped standard or something along those lines.. then again, i might just be obsessive about widescreen. Or maybe it's because i just hate designing in a 720x480 box. whatever the case, i guess i'll just continue with the action safe
