| J30 Identify Format
• | | | |
I have a digital recording on Betacam SP stock (!). While it plays in our J30 SDI, I'm curious to know whether it's Betacam SX, MPEG IMX, or even Digital Betacam. Judging from the picture quality, I don't think it's Dig Beta - can you even record DBeta on SP stock? Is there any way to make the J30 give up the info or otherwise figure it out? Thanks for any suggestions.

How do you know its a "digital recording" . I bet you it's a regular Beta tape with analog beta footage on it. You must know someone with a Beta VTR - if it plays in there, it's a beta tape, and as you know, a J-30 will play back a Beta tape (and yes, it outputs to the SDI out jack).
One thing for sure, it's not Beta SX.

Hi Bob!
I actually tried to play it first in my 2800. It had TC; no picture; "hash" for audio. That's what led me to try the J30. An odd thing, but I get a lot of odd things. Thanks for responding.
