Encoding & Hosting
by Warner A. Weber III on Jul 9, 2007 at 10:35:04 pm

I am glad this fourm is up. I have added video to a website before, however I am now for the first time planning on creating my own shows so to speak.

I have many questions. I have been looking online for encoders. I intend to use Flash. It is accepted, loads quickly and has great quality. In the past on my Front Page websites I have used Windows Media. Does anyone have thoughts on Camtix? The software will endcode to Flash Video and guide the user to upload the video to a website. For an extra $10 they will throw in hosting for a year.

There are others,such as kibisis.com and blue-pacific.com

So far it seems that Camtix may be the best deal. Has anyone had any exposure to these converters and hosts?

Hi Warner.

Since you're talking about encoding to Flash for posting on your website you should check out the COW's Compression Technique forum here:

If you're planning to turn your show into a podcast, I'd be happy to help you out in any way I can. What kind of show will you be producing? Outdoors or equine as it says in your profile?

At this time I am going to produce a show with horses. If there is an audience for other outdoor programing I would also like to seek that out.

I am finding the key to making it in Podcasting is a good concentrated effort on marketing and cross marketing when possible. Even an insane amount of press releases. Marketing also includes adding the video to everyplace that will take it, also getting added to the directories.

I have my theories on the eventual cash flow from Podcasting...We will have to see if they play out.

I really think it is a great opportunity for those that can produce well and haven't been into the good ole boys of the broadcast arena. The cost of entry is reasonable, the door is open to walk through.

I will probably be posting often... Thank you for the response. I will also respond when ever I feel I can be of help.

Take care,
Warner A. Weber III
