Problem cropping a video
by Jessica Beasley on Oct 22, 2009 at 12:40:40 am

I’m having a few problems with a video I’m trying to edit. There is a scene where there are two people standing on a staircase and I need to edit one of the people out. I’ve tried using the pan/crop tool to do this but there are the following problems:

1) It seems to apply the effect to the whole video - rather than just the ten seconds I need it. Therefore, the whole video looks cropped, which is strange.

2) It always zooms in to the person of focus quite fast. I don’t want it to zoom in at all, just crop the other person.

3) Cropping makes the person of focus seem a little too close - I still wanted some distance so that my audience is aware of the staircase. Is this possible or is the massive close-up the only option I’ve got when cropping?

4) Once I’ve cropped there is a very fine black line at the top of the video. It’s just about noticeable and I’d rather not have it - I want my video to have a more symmetrical look. Any ideas?

If anyone can help with these issues it would be hugely appreciated :)

Realistically, if you crrop an image (remove a section) you will either have a black area where it was removed or you zoom in to have the remaining image fill the screen.
