Handwritten Text
by Lee Brennan on Jun 24, 2008 at 10:10:59 pm

Hi,
Is there a way to simulate handwritten text? (Like an invisible hand is writing a sentence). Thanks for any help.

Wow, I don't see a way vith Vegas and I hope i'm wrong. There is a way with After Effects to record you writing with the mouse if you have access to it. Danny Hays

Hi,
I can sort of do it using the mask tool with the pan and crop tool for the text(Edwardian). I guess if I added a zillion key frames and dragged the mask in the same manner that I would write it- it would work. I was hoping for a less time consuming method. Thanks for giving it a try!

There's another way that may work for you. There are many screen capture wares out there, maybe even free, that allows you to capture your desktop live as an avi. You could open paint and paint your text while recording your desktop, then crop out the paint program leaving the paint program canvas when you pull it into vegas. The quality of those screen avi's arent that good but may be worth a try.

Hi
There's a couple of ways you can do it. First is using the Bézier Mask. I think one of Ed Troxel's Tips & Tricks newsletters explained how to do that.

Check the index. I've used this method and it does work cool but it take some time to get it right. You'll need to start with a good script font.

Also there was a tutorial called 13 dots a while ago but I think you'll need SwishMax for that one.

Try that Bézier Mask. You can do it directly in Vegas and it does work good.

Hi,
Thanks guys. It does work using the mask in pan and crop but it took forever doing just three words. I'll try both and let you know. Thanks again- If it wasn't for this forum I would have given up using Vegas long ago- and missed out on one of the truly fun things I do!
