How can I copy media files from 2 partitioned hard drives to another hard drive?
I have been searching this forum for copying files to another hard drive but have come up with nothing. So, my question is how do I copy a projects media files onto a new hard drive? The project files are spread across 2 drives that have been partitioned into about 20 smaller drives.
Normally, I would have just copied all the drives on the finder level. But, I'm weary of that process because each partitioned drive has its own AVID MEDIA FILES folder.
The project was on Avid Xpress and I transferred everything over to MC 3.0 last year. So, now I need to make a back up of the project. Then send the media files to another facility for an edit.

I'd consolidate your clips to your new drive. Highlight the clips you want, right click and select consolidate/transcode. You'll have numerous options (post back if there are any you don't understand).

I have over 200 bins. Should I do that for each bin. I would think there's an easier way. I would like to do it from the finder level is that possible.

There are many sequences. I have approx. 1TB of media and numerous SD footage. I have consolidated in the past, however this project is huge and they (studio) need all the footage we have.

Combining media from different avid mediafiles folders into one new folder at the finder level should not be an issue so long as you delete the msmMMOB.mdb and msmFMID.pmr files and let Avid re-scan and re-index the new Avid Mediafiles folder after you're done copying.
