I've been working on a VAIO and have decided to upgrade to a new DELL. Everything worked fine on the VAIO but it was a 3yr old computer and I decided to update.
On the VAIO everything worked fine. The deck (Sony DCR-TRV19) had no problem configuring. Now on the DELL the computer itself recognizes the camcorder but when I go to check decks or adjust deck its as if there is nothing plugged into the computer. Please help.

Have you set up your ports for Avid? You need to select your firewire port on OHCI, I think (not in front of a system). That way Avid will know where to look for the deck.

Firewire is the preferred method (the only method, without a DNA device) to capture your videotape. You'll need to get a card supported by the software you are using (search Avid's site for a specific model, or look in your readme file).
