Media Offline, Unsupported file, please help!
by Jeroen de Vries on Jun 29, 2008 at 5:55:32 pm

Hello, i really need some help and hope i can get the answer here,
I started editing in Adobe Premiere Elements 1.0 (very old, i know)
But some how it didnt let me capture anymore, it said try resetting the camera, but it didnt help. Than i went to Windows Movie Maker, en it did let me capture, so i had the avi file, a 2.7 gig and i uploaded it in Elements, no problems at all. After 7-8 Hrs of Editing non stop i rebooted my pc. When i opened the file again it said media offline. and the file itself somehow cant be opened in my Elements nor my VLC media player anymore. It only still plays perfectly in movie maker, the 2.7 gig avi. Next to that i didnt do anything i normally also dont. I still have the saved files etc. Does anyone know what to do with this?

Thanks in advance

Try to import the AVI into a new Elements project. If it works, than you might have a corrupted project file.
You might be able to try nesting the old project into the new project??

But, If VLC can't play the AVI than it sounds like the file has been corrupted..

I'd try decompressing the AVI with AVS Video Converter...

Just some ideas..

That's correct. I'm sorry, but that suggestion would require a re-edit. :(

Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 Trouble Uploading AVI
by Dan Christmas on Aug 1, 2008 at 12:02:21 am

So I've been working on seperate projects on Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. And I saved them also as AVI videos. So I decided I wanted to take my old projects that I saved as AVI and add them to one timeline on a project. I could have sworn I had done it like that before but for some reason, every time I go to get media, I click on the file, it shows up on the right side with just a picture of two arrows going in a circle. And when I click on it, it says "Unsupported format or damged file/One of the necessary components may not have been installed.". Now, I know that the file isn't damaged because I have played it as an AVI on my media player, and opened it as it's original project on Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. So is there anything that I can install or do so that that I can add my video on to my timeline? Thanks

-Dan Christmas
