two clips side to side
by Diane Minier on May 6, 2008 at 7:24:28 pm

Hi,
I'm using Premiere 6.0

Here what I try to do.
I have two 800x600 clips. I want to make ONE movie with them. I need to place them one above the other one. So, I have created a 800x1200 PPJ.

To keep the size of each clip and not having them to be strech to fit the 1200 height, I have selected "Maintain Ration Aspect". It brings the clip to 600 pixels height and this add 300 black pixels above and 300 px below (to fill the 1200px height).

With "Motion" I move the movie 300 px (one toward the top, the second toward the bottom)

The problem I have, is I cannot see the whole clip that is under the first one in the Timeline. I can see a part of the clip and then I see the first 300 black pixels that were place when applied "Maintain Aspect Ration"

I need to remove that part but I cannot figure out how?

Does anyone know?

thanks in advance.

I am not familiar with an 800x600 video format. Check your project settings (Project/Project Settings/General) and check the Pixel Aspect Ratio of the project.
Than right-click on your clips in the project bin and select Interpret Footage/Pixel Aspect Ratio/Conform to... and select the PAR that matches your project.
Next, apply Video Effect/Distort/Transform to each of the clips and resize them appropriately.

This may not be the best solution, but it will fix your issue.

Vince
