Hi. This is a very basic question, but as I'm scanning my photos to create a slideshow, I'm considering what size I need to crop my images. I'd like to apply a Ken Burns Effect to some of the images, so that makes me wonder if I need to crop these larger than 720 x 480.

Also, is 72 dpi high enough quality?

72 dpi is the correct setting for video. Depending on how you implement the KB technique, you should likely have an oversized image 1000x1000, for example. With raster graphics it's better to scale an image down than up.
