 | After Effects Font Preview not working.
by Jessica Lawheed on Aug 29, 2012 at 4:09:28 pm |
So I'm trying to preview my text in AE by highlighting my text, then clicking within the drop down menu and hitting the down arrow. It usually works and will change on screen so I can scroll through several fonts and find something I like. Well for some reason it's not working. It will change the highlighted area, but the font wont switch unless I click outside of the character window. This defeats the purpose of the preview.
I'm in CS6 on a mac running OSXLion. The text layer is the only thing in my comp.
Thanks.

There's an alternate way to sort through typefaces:
Create your text in a text layer
Double-click on the layer, which highlights the text
In the Character pane, click the cursor on the typeface name
Use the up & down arrows to change typefaces & see them on the screen

Yes, that is exactly what I have been doing- I apologize if that wasn't clear in my post. The problem is that that method is not working. I have to click outside of the character pane in order to see the new font. A complete restart of my computer fixed the problem, but then invariably, it will occur again a few hours in.

I always told my students, "When AE starts acting wonky, it's time to Save and re-launch."
Somewhere along the way AE can lose the plot. It's weird, because it mostly keeps on working. But once weirdness sets in, it's just a matter of time 'til it crashes.
