Melting/Liquid Text
by Adam Knight on Jun 25, 2009 at 7:34:25 pm

Moo,

I'm pretty new to AE and am trying to create some melting/liquid titles for a short film. I've been trying for a few days but can't come up with anything. Any ideas? I thought there might be a plug-in but I haven't found anything myself.

Thanks,

Adam

turbulent displace will create a quick and easy water-like distortion with pretty straight forward controls...

here's a cool tutorial for a melt on text effect. you could reverse the process for a melt off effect, or just use the technique to create your own melted text effect...

he uses fractal noise and the displacement map for the basic distortion. it's not exactly a beginners tutorial, his english is a bit broken and he doesn't always give precise details (he expects some trial and error on your end), but it may be quite helpful to you.
