Effects clipping on nested comp
by Mike Abbott on Jun 24, 2009 at 5:30:22 pm

I'm not sure if I'm imaging this or not...

Example: You've got a small precomp, with a layer on it with a drop shadow. The settings of the shadow means it 'overflows' the edge of the comp. When the comp is viewed in the context of its parent comp you can see the shadow is clipped to the size of the nested comp.

Yes, I can easily go back through the hierarchy and increse of size of the comps, but but I seem to remember there was a switch (or something)somewhere to enable an effect to overflow the edge of the comp it sits on.

A figment of my imagination, or not?

Mike A.

try the continuously rasterize option (in the switches panel of the timeline) for the nested comp. it looks like a little sun/spiky ball.
