It's time for a little AE Lingo education. It really does help to learn it when it comes time to communicate with fellow AE practitioners, because then you're all singing off the same page in the song book. Communication becomes easier.
When you make media files in AE, you almost always:
1) Export (not the best way unless you have no other choice)
2) Render, using AE's Render Queue (about 95% of the time, it's the recommended way)
Just about the only time you SAVE anything is when you save the AE project file -- which you should do early and often -- and any templates and effects favorites you create. Sure, you can save individual frames from AE Comps using the Save Frame As command, but that's the one media creation exception.
So what did you do: Export or Render? And if you DID render, were you aware that AE defaults to rendering video only, and you have to modify the Output Module settings to render audio as well?
