How do I add a sound clip (*.mp3 file) to my composition?

you should be able to just import the file (or drag it to the project panel), then just drag it to your comp.

you may also need to make sure that audio is enabled for preivews... ithink it's in compostion>previews, make sure there is a check mark next to audio.

i would, however, recommend converting it to a .wav or aiff to use with in ae. mp3s and other compressed audio files can behave inconsitently with in ae.

[Kirk Candan] "How do I add a sound clip (*.mp3 file) to my composition?"

The short answer: you don't. Not mp3's anyway. AE does not like compressed audio. It's okay if you're just using it for reference, but if you intend to render the audio out along with the video, you'll need to convert the mp3 to either aiff or wav.

This has been an issue since AE 3, if not even before then.
