After Effects and Premiere
by Julian Edison on Aug 27, 2008 at 7:08:58 am

I realize this question is very basic, I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge, I can't seem to find the answer :/

I understand that Premiere is meant for editing and AE is meant for effects/motion graphics. What I don't understand is how they are meant to be used in conjunction. Is a sequence/clip edited in Premiere then moved to AE then back to Premiere, or is a whole video finished using minimal effects in Premiere and then moved to AE?

I guess it boils down to me not understanding how exactly the two programs are able to work efficiently together. Thanks a ton for any help :D

It really depends what kind of project you're working on. You might need to take just one shot into AE to add an effect, or you may take a complete project from Prem to AE to do overall colour correction.

You can use dynamic link to achieve this more efficiently, or just import a prem project into AE as you would any other asset.
