Snow Problem

Hi, Hope someone can help.
I'm using the CC Snow effect in a comp and it works brilliantly for static shots. However, I have a pan in my footage and the snow remains static throughout (Basically making the shot look unreal)
I have tried putting the snow effect on an ajustment layer and used the layer postion to move the layer right to left in tandem with the pan in my footage, however even though the layer moves with the pan the snow effect doesn't! I'm a relative newcomer to AE3 (As you can probably tell) Can anybody offer advice on this?
Many thanks indeed.

you'll probably need to apply cc snow to a separate layer that is wider than you need so you can shift it's x position as the camera pans.
since cc snow doesn't create an alpha channel for the snow, create a black solid and add the snow effect. then set the blending mode for that layer to screen or lighten. that should remove the black and composite the snow over the footage. you could also use an effect like unmult (freebie from red giant) or xmult (freebie from fan) to remove the black.
since cc snow is not a 3d plugin, you may need 2 or 3 snow layers to create a believable depth movement as the camera pans... think of it as foreground, mid-ground and background snow layers, each would have a different x-position move rate as the camera pans (foreground snow would pan by faster than background snow). of course settings for the snow flake size will need to reflect foreground, mid-ground and background snow too...

Hi Kevin,
Many thanks indeed for the advice. Did as you suggested and set up a new black solid and used screen mode to matt out the black. Works a treat! Thanks for the 3d tip as well - looks V good.
Thanks for your time - very much appreciated.
