3D Motion Paths
by Nicolas Hansen on Aug 15, 2008 at 4:50:03 pm

Is there a way to make a motion path for a null object to follow by using bezier curves in 3D space? It seems really hard to just use position keyframes and nearly impossible to change in the future. There must be a way to make a nice 3D path for a Null object to follow.. All the tutorials I've seen just use position keyframes
Thanks!

That's the challenge of working in 3D. On the bright side, it gets easier with practice.

The best advice I can give you is:

1) Work in a 4-up view. Active Camera, Top, Left/Right, and Front.

2) Use the Pen tool (g) to add keyframes and create bezier curves.

3) Use as few keyframes as possible.

The other advice I can offer on keyframing is:

0) Suffer through learning to use the Temporal Graph.
