Temperamental "Advanced Lighting"
by Laurie Hogan on Jul 24, 2008 at 2:25:58 pm

Okay, so I set my settings for the Advance Lighting effect to make a bolt of lighting. I have worked on this project a while with no issues and have rendered it in the render queue with no issues.
Now after render it becomes a spec or a tangle ball of electricity instead of the bolt. If I go to the settings and play with the conductivity stat then press command z to undo, it returns to a lighting bolt until I render it again. What's the deal?

I am using CS3 Pro with a Mac OSX with Intel

Thanks for your help

-Laurie

Y'know, I have NEVER found Advanced Lightning to be the easiest effect to use in AE. A little tweak in some goofy parameter can have a big influence elsewhere. I have literally had to re-do an effect using Advanced Lightning a half-dozen times before it was right, and even though it looked right in a RAM Preview.

Go figure, and join the club, I guess.

Do you have an earlier version of the project so you can compare notes on the settings?

Thanks for the club membership!

I don't have the setting from the earlier version. What I ended up doing was setting up the lighting they way I wanted, then tweaked a different layer at a differnet part then rended it. It worked for some dumb reason. It rendered the lighting they way I wanted.

I am glad I am not the only one with this issue. Hi, my name is Laurie and I have issues with Advance Lighting.
