Moving masks
by Joe Long on Jun 10, 2008 at 4:09:54 pm

Afternoon all,

I'm fairly new to after effects. My comp looks good in the preview, but when I render it the masks and other elements I've added all move across the screen slightly and go out of line with the rest of the comp. The masks etc all move together and remain correctly positioned relative to each other they are just not in line with the main video footage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks,
Joe

Layers in AE don't move of their own accord. Something has to move them.

Go through your comp(s) with a fine-toothed comb, eliminating any stray keyframes, disabled expressions and disabled effects. Double-check what's happening if you used any distortion effects or parented layers. If you're working in 3D, double check your cameras and know that the uppermost camera layer in the timeline is ALWAYS the active camera when rendering, whether it's turned on or not.
