Hello everyone,
The recommended graphics cards matrix for AE 7.0 pro is no longer available at adobes site. I currently have and ATI card which I believe has some compatibility issues with AE7. Can anyone recommend a affordable card that would be capable of taking full advantage of AE7 pro which I have yet to install?

I wouldn't stay awake nights worrying about the proper graphics card for AE. It just isn't worth the grief. I'd say you can stick with what you have.
One would think that with AE8, Adobe might have settled the issues concerning graphics cards and AE. They really haven't, so the issues in AE7 are still present in AE8. I speak of Open GL.
AE only supports a subset of Open GL. It is extremely difficult, if not downright impossible, to build a proper AE project around this subset... and no, I don't know what that subset of capabilities might be. Most AE folks enamored by Open GL eventually throw up their hands, mutter a few choice words, turn it off, and get on with their business.
As always, more RAM is more important in AE than a hot card.

Joe,
No one replied but here's what I can tell you. There are 3 upgrade paths: standard to standard, pro to pro and standard to pro. I purchased the standard to pro which will upgrade versions 3x and up. Hope this helps.

thanks paul,
I am wanting to work with Zaxwerks invgerator and all the latest tutorials are in AE7 so I figure its time for an upgrade. 5.5 has been great, I hope AE7 is as user friendly...
Thanks for your help.
