camera movement problem
by mateobishop on Jan 5, 2008 at 9:46:26 pm

I've used 3d space and basic camera movements before in AE but i'm running into a really weird problem right now. I have a plain white space with 3 lines of text each being their own layer. Those are 3d layers and are placed at different depths in the comp. I then made a camera and am moving the camera from far away to close up on the first layer of text... At that point I want to slowly move in on that text just a bit as you read it. This seems simple enough to just move the camera a little closer, but when it's played back...it wants to move in closer than I set it to and then by the next keyframe its back to the point I set . It's adding this extra zoom between keyframes but always ending in the correct spot. Why won't it just move slowly one keyframe to the next without this extra zoom that it's putting in?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

sounds like you've got the spacial interpolation set to bezier.

right click on the keyframes where this is happening and select "keyframe interpolation" . then change the spacial interpolation to linear ...

often you will need it to be bezier though so that the movement is smooth. In this case you need to look at the camera path using the top/side/front views and manually adjust the curves.
