How would I use text as a mask?
by Tyler Hart on Nov 23, 2007 at 2:30:22 am

Hey. I'm a newer user to both creativecow and AE and was wondering how I would go about creating a mask layer using text. I would like to subtract from a solid just the text.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Or, it you're animating individual letters you can select the text layer, then, Layer>Create Outlines, and a new solid layer will be created with masks of all the letters and you can copy past those to any other layer, just change the mask mode to Add or whatever works.
