making masks in AE7
by Robin1977 on Sep 1, 2007 at 8:56:19 pm

Or not as the case may be!

I am currently making flash video loops via AE7 and have got through all of the ones that I didnt need to make a mask for, but now the funs over and Im stuck with hundreds of the damn things that need a mask applied. The thing with loops is that if there are birds in the sky obviously in aloop they look very silly. and also using flash it compresses it so much that any mist or hazeyness becomes noisy and have lines all over the skyline. All I need to do is literally freeze a frame where the sky is clear how i want it and then cut that out and apply over the other footage layer so that the skyline is frozen and the rest of it is running as normal. I have tried everything ( well obviously not ) and it appears that I have achieved a still mask, however there is still mvement in the sky soemwhere as the visual lines have not completely disappeared, although they have got better. Please can someone point me to a tutorial or tell me the answer. Thankyou

Partys over. Teach me.

Do you need to replace the sky? If so try this:
