Mosaic tile flip

Hello, all.

I am trying to create a mosaic wall of tiles that creates one big picture, then each tile flips at a little bit different time to reveal a different mosaic on the "back" of the tiles. I've already figured out how to make a pretty decent faux-3D tile flip, but need help on how to re-create this action like 100 times. Is this simply a parenting issue or is there a better way? I fooled around with the parenting and couldn't get it to work but perhaps I was doing it wrong. Also, is there a "quick and dirty" way to split images up into equal square sections, like a grid...? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Not a solution per se, but you should check out Card Wipe.
It might be a quick and easy solution to what you're looking for (under Effect->Transition->Card Wipe).

As for the Grid, maybe Effect->Generate->Grid could be what you're looking for.

Hope this helps,
iso

I know this was a few years ago, but did you find a solution to your issue? I'm trying to do about the same thing...many many photos that are small but make up another image when all toghther. Similar to an impressionist painting. Is there a plugin that does this effect now?

thanks
