Paths for final cut pro

Hi,

Just started using final cut pro.

Created myself an issue I hope someone can help me with.

I imported the files from my video camera into FCP

I then copied the files also to a specific directory on my system

I then erased the data from the camera and used the card for a new video

Now I deleted the project in FCP after playing around, understanding what I want to do

I now create a new project and click the import section to import the files again from the directory I have stored them in, but the files are all grey'd out, visible but not accessible.

Now I am stuck as I do not know on how to get FCP to import the files so that I can create a new project.
Any help much appreciated

I have the first time done an import from the camera.

The second instance I just copied all the files from the card via a card reader into a directory I created.

Yes, thats correct. I can see the files, but they are all grey and I cant click on them.

The files I am trying to import has a .mts extension

To import a .MTS file into the Log and Transfer window the file must remain in its original file structure. Meaning, when you are ready to get the files off the card you must bring everything on the card over and not re-arange things. All of those files that come with it that look like junk tell FCP what the clips are.
