I have a sequence of ten six second clips, head and shoulders shots of individuals speaking to camera with a white background. I want an effective transition between each of the ten clips, I've aligned clips using the eyelines to match, but haven't found a transition I'm really happy with. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You want a morph transition. There might be a QT plug-in for it, if not, you'll have to buy one, but I think there are several inexpensive ones out there.

I've used CHV's Morph plug-in and it works good. It doesn't cost that much as well. Check it out here: http://www.chv-plugins.com/cms/Fx-Script/Morph-collection/Morph-collection....

Since the background is 'white' - you could try a gradient wipe and put the video clip into the gradient.
It won't be a left to right wipe, but rather based on a gradient (each clip.) The brighter areas will dissolve first, darkest regions last.

Being B&W, a Luma based transition could work.
