FCP downconverting

I'm pretty new at editing and wanted to know how i can down convert some footage from HD to SD on FCP. I'm working on FCP 7

Use Compressor. Convert to whatever you want.

I agree....In your settings you already have a bunch of presets. Go to the Settings Tab, Apple, Other Workflows, Advanced Format Conversions, Standard Definition.

Lerato,

I'll ask: Why? You can mix HD and SD footage in a timeline; SD has a lower demand than HD.....

But again, understanding the why is valuable for advice.
