Rendering Clips
by Joseph Simon on Nov 3, 2009 at 9:21:08 pm

I am currently working with .AVI video clips in Final Cut Express 4.0. Every time that I make a change to one of these clips in the timeline, the video becomes unrendered. While I can render the clip by selecting it and using the render option in the "sequence" tab, I'm hoping there is some kind of setting that would alleviate the need for doing so (as it is rather time-consuming). I'm extremely new to FCE and any advice would be much appreciated!

Avi's are not natively supported by Apple in FCE or FCP.

To avoid rendering all the time the best best is to use Compressor to convert the files to a codec Apple supports. In the case of FCE, probably DV or the Apple Intermediate Codec would be your best bet.
