Export problems - Interlaced headache
by Johnie Stanley on Aug 12, 2009 at 7:42:56 am

Hi all,

New to this forum, very helpful so far so cheers!

I have a project with Digibeta PAL footage (captured Uncompressed 8 bit) and some DV PAL clips already digitised and given to me. Sequence setting match the Uncompressed 8 bit footage as it is my majority (right or wrong?) Upper field first on those clips. The DV footage is lower field first and when dragged to the timeline it automatically place a shift field filter on it (right or wrong?)

I am working in FCP 6 on a G5 tower. Happy with the cut, am noticing interlacing on all clips in Viewer at 100% (but that is normal right?- no need to deinterlace as when played back on all types of TV the deinterlaceing happens there (right or wrong?)

I export with current settings - that looks good when I play it back in quicktime

But when I export into DVD studio pro (SD PAL - 2 pass VBR etc) and burn the DVD - playing back on any TV look ridiculous - worse that in the Viewer at 100% It's like interlaced teeth and strobing and stuttering all rolled into one - please can someone help? it is driving me insane - you all too I imagine having to deal with these questions.

Cheers

Johnie
