I'm producing a short reel to QuickTime format in FCP and yet when I give it to a reviewer, who works on a PC, they are told they need to download some other software to be able to play it.

They have the latest QuickTime for PC and I'm wondering if it is something that I'm doing on my side.

I'm more than willing to answer any further questions to help solve this quirk of Mac-PC issue as the .Mov looks 10X better than anything exported to Windows format.

Any help is appreciated.

QuickTime means nothing. What's the codec you're sending them?

Tom,

Many thanks for your swift reply! The settings I am using to export to QuickTime are Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50.

Please don't start pulling out your hair with this beginner...I'm doing my best to convert the client from trad. WMV to something better!

As far as I know, Apple does not make an Apple Intermediate Codec for Windows.

What are you trying to do, have them further edit the file or are you just trying to deliver a master file?

Jeremy,
I'm being swamped with help! I wish you guys worked for my company...less said the better on that front.

OK, I'm trying to give them a taster - a MASTER file, if you will. They only need to sit back and watch. No editing is required at all.

Many thanks,

Lawrence Eaton

If you want a high res version and they have the latest QuickTime you should be able to give them a ProRes version that will play back.
