stock footage format
by Victoria Murphy on Jun 29, 2009 at 5:23:10 pm

I am looking into using stock footage for the first time. I found a site that offers some stock footage DVDs for only the cost of S&H ($8.41 per) so I am thinking about ordering a few. However, I shot my footage in mini DV, and their footage is DV AVI--a format with which I am unfamiliar. Will it be easy for me to work with DV AVI footage in my mini DV project? I am working with FCP HD 4.5.

I am also working on the project in After Effects CS3. Do you know if I will be able to use the footage in my mini DV project there, or should I post this question on the After Effect forum, too?

Thanks, as always.

Hi Victoria,
You will need to convert the AVI DV to QT DV so FC can work with them.
i don“t really know how AE will do with AVI. I guess will be better to conver it too.
Your footage will lose a generation.
cheers,
rafael
