Clip enable
by Steve West on Jan 29, 2009 at 9:52:41 pm

Ok,,, does anyone have any idea how I keep "unenabling" clips? I'm new to FCP (old avid editor) and I'm flying along, I hit render, wait a couple of minutes- check the sequence and BAM,,,, one of my clips are missing. There must be a keystroke or a right click that I'm use to doing in Avid that I'm hitting. But it's starting to P--- me off.

Go to the Customize keyboard item

you can type in clip enable in the search field to find the key it is assigned to and then remove the sohortcut

[Steve West] "does anyone have any idea how I keep "unenabling" clips?"

Control-B is the clip enable/disable short cut. This one gets me once in a while if I'm flying along, as I often use Control-V to slice up clips.

Richard's suggestion of turing off the shortcut is a good one! I'm surprised I haven't done that myself yet!

I found it. It was Control S (group clip enable?)- which of course is "Save" on my AVID PC- and I was hitting after any complex moves or effects out of habit. All is good now.
