QT file dimensions/ codec and Streamclip export
by Robin Rudy on Jul 13, 2008 at 7:26:31 am

Greetings,

1. I"m working on a reel with quicktime files with dimensions of 640 x 480 and 720 x 480. What should my sequence settings be in fcp? Final output to DVD and compressed for web.

2. I"m also using streamclip to create qt files from uncopyrighted material on DVD and am wondering what aspect ratio I should export files to-- apple dvcpro defaults to 720 x 480, but apple fcp uncompressed 8 bit can be exported as 640 x 480.

3. one quicktime file's codec is Avid Dv 4:1:1 Ntsc 601, and is not viewable in fcp. how can I alter this quicktime file to use in fcp?

4. when using streamclip-- should I select dvc pro 50 or dv / dvcpro ntsc or select apple fcp uncompressed 8 bit?

Many thanks,
RR

Thats a lot of questions... I'll take 2

DV50 is better than DV

Avid codecs.. go to Avids website and search downloads area for codec. Install their codec, then use Compressor to convert to match your FCp sequence.
