hi,
when capturing footage i often get the message
'the audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape.'
I have searched high and low but found no way to adjust the audio sample rate of my capture preset.
Please can you suggest what this means and how can I sort it out?

What type of camera recorded your footage? In the view screen of your camera/deck it will show the audio sample rate of the tape you're playing back, normally 16 bit 48kHz, If that's what it shows then just match your tape format and audio sample rate with the same capture preset in "Easy Setups".
Some cameras (like my PD170) will show a slightly different audio sample rate in the properties tab in the Browser window e.g instead of 48kHz it'll be something like 47.9997kHz instead. Don't worry about that and you can play back that audio in the timeline without issue if you go to the "Audio/Video Settings" and make sure that the playback quality is set to "lower".
Once you're ready to export your sequence you need to render everything and at that time FCP will not only render your video effects, etc. but will also render the audio to the correct sample rate of 16 bit 48kHz.
