Basil 601FCP - which mac?

Hi,

I need to learn how to use FCP and the first step is getting hold of my first mac. I'm not too concerned with performance, I just want something that will run the software reliably.

What I don't need to do is spend out a lot more money than necessary just to get a lightning-fast render time. Having looked at the technical specs on the Apple website it seems to me that I can get away with a reasonably specced Powerbook, but the graphics card may be an issue.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to which mac model I can get away with?

Hi,

an iMac will do get the job done. Just don't get the lowest entry model because it hasn't a good graphics card. The 20" iMac is probably a very good choice. Add plenty of RAM (by yourself) and max the drive.

Cheers
Andreas
