 | conversions and transcoding?
by scott robinson on Nov 13, 2009 at 5:28:54 am |
I was hoping to get some advice or tips from anyone who has had experience in converting square pixel video to non square video.
I have been using both Episode and Compressor but am wondering if this is even a possibility with either of these?
Just to make things more challenging, I have several of these clips in different resolutions and formats.
Essentially, we are have various codecs, 16:9 ratios and some square pixel videos, which we intend to bring into a PRORES 422 format with a 4:3,non-square pixel video space. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I'm not sure what advice you need. Converting square to non-square is a trivial matter as long as you keep to the correct frame and pixel aspect ratios.

Thanks,
So if i want to change the aspect and square pixel to non-square, can I do that with compressor in geometry or in After effects?
Let say I have a 1920x1080 with square pixel and I want to keep the entire video frame but get it into a 4:3 720x480 non-square pixel space... do I just letter box it with compressor and put the pixel settings as NTSC 601?

Either, but it'll be easier in compressor as part of the transcode process.

Basically, yes.
