New servers and Carbon Coder..
by Carl Hamilton on Jun 15, 2009 at 3:31:33 pm

Hi.
I have tried to get some help from rhozet with no sucess.

I bought a new server last month, a Dell R410 with Xeon 5500 processor.
But when i use carbon coder its utilize only about 50% of processorpower.

When i use carbon coder on my previous server (dell with "old" xeon") its use 100%

I use server 2003 on both.

The new server uses multithreading or what its called, so i can see 16 "processors" in taskmanager.

The transcoding take same time on both computers, but the new should be faster.

Any one know anyting about this?

/Regards Carl

IIRC, not all codecs are multi-thread enabled, and I doubt any are 16-way. What are your source and output codecs and containers?
