Yar, but it's only a false color simulation. Today's audiences won't be fooled for long. You've got isolate heat-producing objects and make them stand out from the cooler objects. See "The Cove" for lots of IR footage.

Yeah, like Bogie says.
Here's the deal: infrared cameras see different things as being bright. For example, a guy pulls over on a dark road at night, and he's leaning against the hood of his black car. He's wearing day-glow orange clothes. The guy's face & hands stand out against his clothing, and the hood of the car behind him is glowing to beat the band. A normal camera would see the shot quite differently.
So I guess the real question is, "How realistic does this have to look?"
