Importing Illustrator CS4 files into AE
by Daniel DiNardo on Oct 26, 2009 at 1:13:35 pm

Has anybody had issues with elements created in Illustrator CS4 importing into AE the size of the artboard rather than the object size? Is there a setting in Illustrator that has changed from past version that I'm missing? Note that this only happens when I have one layer or when I import as merged footage.

I can import as a composition with cropped layers fine. Elements created in Illlustrator CS3 come in cropped, but if I open them up in CS4 and do a straight save they import the size of the artboard. Also, I can save as a .eps in CS4 and objects import fine. Thanks in advance for any info.

HI DANIEL,
I just edit the artboards prior to importing the .AI into AE. Got to Document Setup, then edit artboards in Illustrator.

Hope that helps
