I need to know the name of this effect, anybody know it?

I have seen this effect on tv and on a number of music videos, but I dont know the name of it and so its hard for me to look for a tutorial which shows how to do it in after effects.

Do any of you guys know what its called so that I can start researching it?

here is the link to the clip which uses it. It uses it on the intro bit, (not the bit with the guy flexing muscles)

thanks in advance guys!

which effect on the intro....?

the animated grid looks like fractal noise, mosaic and grid.

the glowing lines look like stroke and glow.

the little particles floating around could be done in cc particle world.

the flare-like effect could be done with the ramp effect, a gradient layer style, a feathered mask or a combination of those. just fiddle around with blending modes.

no i mean the whole thing. where u have one piece of text and then it moves smoothly to the next piece of text as if it is a camera being moved around

Like Tony Silva sez, DING!

It looks like Illustrator text arranged in 3D Layers, and an AE 3D camera flies from layer to layer.

Oh, and there's some particle system fun thrown in for visual interest, too.

Um......
Well, Eagle Eye, since the name of the clip is, "Adobe After Effects CS4 Liquify Tool", do you think it might be "Liquify"?

...which is described here?

Hey Stuart,

I'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for.

http://www.videocopilot.net/presets/energetic_titles/

You'll need to download the preset to AE, and then view the tutorial.

Definitely bookmark the site so you'll have the chance to play with some of the other tutorials. Andrew Kramer's site is really the best around!

Bob
