Controlling Strokes in a 3D Space.
by Jairo Perez on Jun 29, 2009 at 12:10:39 pm

Hi!!

First of all, Excuse my bad english, i'm Spanish and i'll do my best to explain myself correctlly.

Well, few time ago i started thinking about a beautiful project to do in After effects.

Basically this project is about a couple of light streaks that dance into a "3D space", they run they swirl like they are little light lovers.

And here comes my main problem.
I cant find a way to control a stroke into a 3D space.
Imagine:

At the begining those light streaks run in parallel from the left to the right side of the screen and almost at the middle, they start swirling.
Well, to do that effect, i would need to be able to move they paths into depth, or at least be able to change their width to create a faked effect of depth... but i dont find any correct way to do that :(

I've been searching a lot, and i learned how to create so beatiful light streaks with Trapcode Particular, or 3D Stroke, but anything about controlling its movements at my will...

The most closer i was from my original idea was using Cinema 4D but i would like to find a way to solve it without using 3D software, cuz i suck at 3D.

Well, hope i've explained my trouble correctly.
Ill apreciate any kind of advise.
Thanks in advance!
Jairo.
Peace.

I think they will be helpful.

Trapcode's 3d stroke is quite useful too.
