hwlp with an upgrade question
by Nelson May on Jun 24, 2009 at 9:12:43 pm

I am using CS3 at work and am considering buying CS4 or the whole production premium for myself. I really only need AE and photoshot.

Anyway, adobe told me I can't upgrade from these products. I have CS2 creative suite and the Macromedia MX2004 suite.

I was chatting with an adobe agent online and they said I can't upgrade because I don't quality. I don't believe everything adobe tells me. Customer service is pretty poor.

If you guys don't have an answer can you direct me to a user group.

Q: Can I upgrade to the CS4 production premium from the education CS2 creative suite and macromedia 2004 suite?

Thanks and I apologize for posting here, but the COW always has an answer and gets me out of trouble.

it wouldn't surprise me if you can't upgrade and earlier educational version to the latest full version, particularly 2 generations back....

you should, however, find written upgrade eligibility requirements on adobe's site for all their software...

Like I mentioned, I talked with a rep via their sales support chat and they said no. I looked at the requirements and there are different price structures to upgrade from different suites. You would think if you have Photoshop and just purchase and upgrade, you should be able to put in your old number. I have never upgraded with adobe only FCP and you have to have your old serial number.

I would want anyone to upgrade to the whole suite if I was a developer. You could get them hooked on more products. I would use on location if it worked as well as they say it does for HD capture and use of scopes.

Getting in touch with your local reseller or Adobe directly may be the best option to get your answers. There could be preferential pricing/promotions that they may offer you that only they know. Resellers are most in the know on such issues and there is always the Adobe hotlines to help you out.

Good Luck
