Luma shift clipped when imported
by Scott Robert on Jun 9, 2009 at 6:29:57 am

Importing a bright clip into after effects, the color and luma values over 100% are clipped as if a Broadcast Safe filter has been applied.
If I export from FCP as Apple Prores (HQ) and re-import it, it's fine.
If I import it into After Effects and export it back to FCP as Apple Prores (HQ), all the values are clipped away over 100% in the vetroscope. I lose my highlights.

I have Mac Pro 3.0, latest After Effect CS4 and FCP. The latest Quicktime. AJA Lhe HD card.

Any help would be appreciated.

This issue has been posted on a number of occasions. Try the COW Search function.

I take it that your sick of this. I'm pretty sure I did try and searched the forum before posting a same topic. I'll try another forum.

[Scott Robert] "I take it that your sick of this"

Apparently not as much you. ;-)

I've never used ProRes so I couldn't give you the type of answer you were expecting. But I did point you to a source where you could possibly get an answer that was suitable. I've seen a few threads here with similar issues as yours and that is why I made the suggestion.

Besides, there are other users here that may give you a better answer. But until then, a COW search is truly your best bet.

Cheers
