I realize this is basically called The Accordion technique
by Dwight Spitz on Apr 11, 2009 at 8:29:22 am

So, i duplicated the 3d layer a number of time changing the position, pressing shift and all that, so now, from the side or a slight angle it looks pretty cool, however. I create a new 3d comp, called EXTRUDE, i press click the Collapse transformation box.

Nothing happens, i really would like to get this accordion thing. it seems this concept was simpler in after effects 6.5

i am on a deadline for school and everything is actually going pretty swell, except i really need this technique figured out quick.

thanks any help is appreciated,

D Spitz

just modify this simple script so that the next sequential layer gets moved 5 pixels up or something. ask for a freebie in the expressions forum.

simple script that distributes layers in 3D space within set ranges. (you can set the ranges by editing the script)

with a dash of Fade opacity of a 3D layer based on distance from camera

now that's a good accordion cake.
