CC Particle World depth of field
by Asaf Yeger on Mar 6, 2009 at 9:51:12 pm

hi everyone.
it seems the particle world does not have a depth depth of field.. even if my comp camera has one.(particles are not affected by it)
does anyone have an idea of how to do that?
thanks

Can you explain what exactly you're trying to do or what look you're trying to achieve?

If you mean particles getting closer or farther you can keyframe the solid that they're on by using the scale up or down to appear closer or farther. But I'm not exactly what effect you're going for.

I think you'll need trapcode particular for true comp camera blur, Particle world indeed does not have this.

You can perhaps try to split the particles up in near/mid/far layers and blur them yourself ?

thanx Filip
i thought of doing that.. but wanted to be sure i wasn't missing anything
thanx for the advise!!
I'll probably have to go to Particular for a true depth of field

Way back in the olden days before there were cameras in AE, we faked this by placing multiple passes of Particle World on top of each other (different layers, not duplicates of the effect) and applied a bit of Gaussian to one or more of them.
